Just Playing The Waiting Game.

I'm at school because our internet ended yesterday and I'm going through withdrawals again.  Chris left yesterday (saturday) and it was a very real "holy cow I'm in a different country and I'm going home now" moment for me.  Because for a while there I didn't feel like I was somewhere different, it seemed like I'd been here my whole life and that Ashland was just something I thought up in a dream.  But I've only been here for 5 months, and soon this place will feel like a dream once I begin the flight home in 29 hours.

Yesterday Liz Beth and I had a packing party.  Just played loud music as we sorted our things...every once in a while coming out of our rooms to dance to Jimmy Fallon's "Idiot Boyfriend" song or complain that our suitcase is just over the 50 lb weight limit.  I'm pretty certain that the kiwi who just moved into our flat hates us.  Lucky for him we won't be around long.

My suitcase is just about full...
Something about packing that bothers me is how much garbage there ends up being.  It makes me feel like a terrible human being when I see how much I've accumulated and am throwing away.  Perfectly good things like pens and pencils and hand lotion and paper and tape dispensers.  I also feel bad throwing away food...but at least that will decay and return to the earth.  All this other stuff....what happens to it?  And if I make this much garbage all by myself and there are 7 billion people on the planet....

So much!
But I couldn't have asked for better weather during these last couple days.  Walking down Victoria Street for one of the last times this morning was very refreshing.  The temperature is a bit chilly, but the sun was shining.  I'm looking at everything and thinking about how this is the last time I will be looking at these things.  And then I was trying to remember what is was like the first time I walked down this street with Liz and Vicky.  Two very different feelings.  One was new and nervous and the other is plain and comfortable.

Nice sunny day at the flats.
Ok, well I'm seeing Ice Age at the movies with Aika, Beth, and Liz so I better be off if I want to have time to grab lunch!  Ciao!
