Unpacking.

Today I thought I'd tackle unpacking, and let me tell you it is much easier to unpack you're things in an empty room than to unpack your things in a room that is already full of stuff.

So first I thought I'd go through my clothes and see what I could eliminate to make room for unpacking.  I did this prior to NZ as well, I had found lots of things to donate to the thrift store and felt pretty proud of myself at the time.  But going through everything a second time around was much easier since I was able to live without them for 5 months.  Suddenly that old Washburn High School Homecoming shirt and that purple argyle sweater just didn't seem that important anymore.  I also have a big box full of t-shirts that I want to make into a t-shirt quilt (someday...) and I added quite a few more shirts to that pile.

All of this was going well until I tried on the pants.  See twitter update:
But that's a lie...one pair did fit.  And they happen to be my fat pants from a over year ago that I bought during sophomore year because I needed something that fit.  Since then I'd used the fat pants at work and they got all full of grease and paint...so they're not exactly wear-in-public material.  Good thing I enjoy wearing dresses, because those don't involve pants, and the Lord knows he made my body in a way that my butt gets bigger but the upstairs doesn't.

So basically something needs to change, because whatever I'm doing right now isn't working.  When I first gained weight in NZ I didn't care much.  I was sort of expecting it to happen since everyone I've known that has studied abroad has also gained weight.  So it didn't feel like a big deal.  I figured I'd rather just accept it than let it get me down the whole time.  But now that I'm home, it's getting me down.

Which is why I would like to get a bike, so I can ride to work and back.  Going bike shopping tomorrow.  Would rather buy a bike than new pants.  I don't need new pants.  I have pants.  But if I can't find a good deal on a bike then I guess I'll be outta luck.
