Advice [for designers] of the day:
Vik said all of these things in 3D Modeling this morning not necessarily in this order:
- As you start out, work for the experience not the salary
- Have a good portfolio
- Start low, work your way up
- Be polite
- NZ minimum wage is $13.00 (soon to rise fitty cent in April)
- The drinking age in India is 25
- Americans call it candy. British call it sweets. Kiwi's call it lollies.
Blog quote of the day:
After reading Patrick Rothfuss' newest blog entry, which had a link to an older blog entry, which had this excerpt in it-
-I've been intrigued to read a little bit about Diogenes the Cynic, who seems to me like a Greek hipster, only better. So read up on that if you're bored.

Regarding Vik's comments in 3D; A music professor once told me that you get paid a lot of money to play popular music, but the music you really want to play you have to do for free. I've found the same railroading, you'll get paid a lot of money to go freight railroading, but the railroading you really want to do you have to do for free, or close to it!
ReplyDeleteYeeeehaaaaa that sounds about right. So maybe its not advice for just designers. I believe he also said, "Everyone's life is hard so quit moaning and complaining" and that's where the Be Polite part came in.
