Went to the Whanganui Musicians Club last night. I almost didn't go because Liz wasn't going, Chris wasn't going, Beth is out of town, Anant didn't want to go...and I thought, I don't want to go by myself. And I knew I'd probably know a couple people there like Corban and Ollie and maybe their friends....
Anyway, it's just really easy to lay on your bed and think, but i'm so content laying on my beeedddd and being anti-social right noooowww. But then I thought, NO Leah, snap out of it, don't be fruit cake! Also, at times like these I think of my favorite Regina Spektor lyrics, "People are just people, they shouldn't make you nervous." And so, I went to the stinkin' concert, which didn't stink at all, it was really quite fun.
Saw Nikita the Spooky and The Circus of Men play. I really enjoyed their music as they had a guitar, cello, violin, upright bass (my favorite), and a guy on percussion who played drums, tambourine, or egg shaker.
Then I got to see some of my classmates, Corban and Ryan, play next! It was fun because people of all ages were there and by the end most everybody was up and dancing and having a good time. Wanganui definitely has it's special moments, which I'm glad I could experience.
After that a group of us walked down the road to space monster to see another gig. I guess there are gigs there every weekend, and I keep getting invited to them but this is the first time I've actually gone. It was a pretty neat venue. It reminded me of going to shows back in Washburn, WI at the civic center. Remember those, guys? Ahahaha.
And that's about all I got for ya, it was a fun, mellow night, filled with good music.
